Celebrating International Women’s Day

As part of International Women’s Day, we thought it only right to introduce you to Jen, one of our account managers here at Purechannels.

Straight out of high school, I worked as a Sales Associate, and a Business and Marketing Assistant, before going to university. I think those roles helped me to realize what I wanted to do. So, when I finished my Master’s degree, I got a position working at Provoke (CCO, Daren’s agency at the time) as a Content and Marketing Exec, predominantly within the food and drink sector. I began working at The Channel Agency in January 2021 as an Account Executive before being promoted to Account Manager. And that’s the story of how I came to work in the channel.

My day-to-day at The Channel Agency is never predictable, which I enjoy. Some days I’ll be working on account admin, such as writing briefs for the team internally, managing client budgets, attending discovery calls, and writing initial SoWs. On other days, I’ll be working with our Senior Developer on our clients’ portals and platforms or proofreading and checking assets from our Creative team. And on other days you might find me working on ABM and lead or demand generation projects. But wherever I am, I’m always pushing our projects along and ensuring we are sticking to our clients’ briefs, timelines, and budget.

I think the best part of my job is the variety. I could be working on demand generation to asset creation, to portals, and platforms, and with many different clients in the channel, partners, distributors, and vendors. I find satisfaction in knowing that I’m driving the project along and it’s great to see it evolve from an initial idea to the fantastic results that we see at the end of the project. I have some long-term clients who I speak with daily, and I love to see our professional relationship grow as we achieve great things together. Building a level of understanding and helping our clients achieve their goals is really satisfying too.

Outside of work, you’ll likely find me doing something creative, like cooking up something tasty or indulging in some photography and videography. I like to stay active too, you might find me working out or exploring new places and camping. But when it’s time to unwind, I like watching action and horror films and spending time with my family and friends.

If I were to give vendors some advice, I think it would be to remember that they are not the only vendors that the partner is working with! A partner may be working with many vendors, trying to learn about many different product offerings, and navigating several portals/platforms. Taking the time to evaluate their partners’ needs and working together on a solution that works best for both parties is the way forward. It’s amazing how many vendors forget the basics!
